Not really but I am sorry guys, I’ve been a little all over the shop lately. I’m trying to get everything in my life packed up for my move to greener pastures on Saturday but so far have only succeeded in piling a bunch of clothes on a chair and then leaving it – packing is one of my least favourite tasks in the world. I’ve still got to go back and shove them into a bag and then into my car but I promised you competition winners so here they are! Drumroll please…

The winner of the Five Minute Bread give-away was Katie – here she is with her prize:

And the winner of the George Foreman give-away was Char who blogs over at iNom. Her winning comment which was chosen by the random generator (it’s a very scientific process – I assign all the comments a number, enter the variables into a random number generator and then press ‘Go’) was:

“Oooh easy. I’d have my huge cleaver. You can chop, slice, dice, mince, smash, carve… you name it! Also it’s handy for self defense, haha – oh and if shiny enough a mirror! All in one! LOL. (I’m totally serious btw =P)”

And here she is with her prize:

Congrats to Katie and Char – hope you’re enjoying your prizes! Until next time (which will hopefully be very soon), peace and love.

Did you know that last week was National Get Grilling Week? Neither did I, but then some lovely folks with George Foreman got in contact and asked if I’d like to review a grill for it, and oh, by the way, would you like an extra one to give-away to your readers? My response? Bow-chicka-wow-wow!

Yes, I have one brand-spanking new George Foreman to give away. It’s the black Heritage Family Grill which retails at £49.99 and you could have one for free. Bow-chicka-wow-wow indeed! Read on for my review & details of how to win…

Happy (Belated) Blogoversary To Me + Give-Away Winners!

So I Am A Feeder is one. That went quickly, didn’t it? And can you believe it’s only been a year? I feel like I’ve been doing this my whole life! In fact, it went so quickly I even forgot to celebrate it on the 21st April! Doh.

Originally this post was going to be about what a failure I’ve been in the kitchen lately. I was going to tell you how I’ve nearly fainted in public twice in the past month because I keep forgetting to eat (massive fail!), how I burned my arm on both the rim of my angel food cake tin when I was taking the monkey bread out and the molten sugar that dripped onto me afterwards, how despite the fact that I made it twice I still couldn’t get it right, and how I forgot to take photos of most of it anyway… but I decided that when birthdays come around it’s better to celebrate the good than the bad, and to remember that every experience is an opportunity to learn. So happy blogoversary to me!

But that’s not all! I also have two winners to announce from my Five Minute Bread give-away! So read on, read on…

Cookbook Review: Five Minute Bread + A Give-Away!

Apr

One of my food goals for 2011 was to bake more bread, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when Zoë François and Ebury Publishing asked me if I’d like to review a copy of her US best-selling book Five Minute Bread (in the US known as Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day), co-written with Jeff Hertzberg. Newly released in January of this year, the book claims to contain a “revolutionary new baking method: no bread machine, no kneading!” – well, for it to be the no. 1 baking book in the US it certainly seems to have caught onto something good here!

When the book arrived I eagerly tore open the packaging, read it from cover-to-cover, and then decided that there was nothing left for me to do but to pull out the flour and yeast and get baking! But why just read what I have to say about the book? Why don’t you decide for yourself? Ebury have very kindly offered to send a copy of the book to one of you guys so that you can have a go at baking from it – how generous is that? For the book review and details of the give-away read on…

New Year! So long 2010, hello 2011! Keeping this as short as possible because I’m going to make it pretty photo heavy, but as most of you know I’m currently in Spain and have been enjoying a rather sunny and warm lead-up to the end of 2010. So, without further ado, here’s to 2011, Feeder Lady style – also at the end of the post the two winners of my give-away! Happy New Year, kids! Warning to the vegans & vegetarians: there are quite a few ‘graphic’ raw food photos that follow after the break!

A Christmas Miracle + Double-Whammy Give-Away!

Dec
20

As I write this post I’m currently surrounded by lemons, honey, tissues, (prescription) drugs and both my left and right lungs; that’s right. I have caught the dreaded Christmas lurgy. But hey, that ain’t gonna stop me from getting into the Christmas spirit! In fact, I’m feeling SO generous that today I’m not only going to give you an awesome cookie recipe, I’m ALSO going to give you not one, but two give-aways! ‘Tis the season and all that jazz. SO. Prepare to have your minds blown and read on, friends, read on.

Every year Momma Lee comes home with an advent calendar which she presents to Brother and I with great pride. This year we each received a Cadbury’s advent calendar that featured a sleeping santa. She then informed us that it was either this one or the Transformers one she saw in Sainsbury’s, and when we said we would’ve preferred Transformers she called us both heathens and walked out of the room. Eh. Can’t win ’em all. But see, here’s the problem: it’s not so much the fact that we’d rather have Megatron on our advent calendars, it’s that I don’t like chocolate, so there’s literally no incentive for me to open each calendar door. Instead it sits there, gathering dust, until I remember and pull out a deformed and (by now) white bit of crumbly chocolate that ends up in the bin (or in a tupperware box in the fridge, thanks Momma Lee). Until now, that is, because I had a total brainwave, the best way to use up unwanted chocolate and create some very festive little bites of nom: Advent Calendar Cookies.
