Have You Got What It Takes? Tesco Real Food Christmas Cupcake Competition

The other day I came home to find a big box waiting for me. There is literally nothing more exciting than coming home to a parcel, especially when you’ve been eagerly anticipating its contents for a few days/weeks/months, and the anticipation was killing me. I took my big box upstairs and tore it open, to find that inside was an equally large red box, tied with a big silver bow (squeee!), and a little card from the Tesco Real Food team.

You see, in the spirit of Christmas, Tesco decided to hold a nationwide cupcake decorating competition, the prize for which is two lucky winners getting to cook alongside a celebrity chef for an afternoon, and ten runners-up receiving a very special Tesco Cupcake Kit. Pretty good, right? So what’s my involvement in all of this? Well, Tesco asked me to be one of their ten London food bloggers to help judge this competition, create my own cupcake and attend the chef day along with the winners. Cupcakes? Christmas? Cooking with a professional chef in a professional kitchen?! How could I refuse?

To kick things off, the Tesco team sent me my very own Cupcake Kit to have a go at decorating my own Christmas-themed cupcake, containing everything I needed to get going (minus eggs and milk, for obvious transportation reasons), including (and I think this was my favourite) a snowflake shaped plunger cutter. I don’t even know what that is and it sounds awesome! Guess who’s putting snowflake shaped cut-outs on top of everything? Oh yeaaah.

So I need to get going on my little Christmas cupcakes and see what I come up with (check back soon to see what I managed to make), but if you’re reading this and thinking, ‘hey! I can totally do that! My cupcake decorating skills are out of this world,’ then guess what? You’re exactly somebody who should enter this competition. All you have to do is upload a photo of your cupcake creation to the Tesco Real Food Christmas Cupcake Competition page, write a 200 word (max) description, put in your details and hey presto! You could be a winner.

The competition closes on the 29th November so get those entries in speedy like! I look forward to seeing your entries and hey, maybe I’ll even see you soon… good luck!

Peace and love,

Jax x

Jax, you’re making it big, when beribboned red boxes mysteriously appear, filled with baking supplies, and you’re invited to judge a contest. Good for you!

While I’d like to participate, my time in the UK was limited to two weeks last month. But I’m glad you’ll be judging, as unbiased and fair as I think you are.

As for your cupcake, I do seem to recall a matcha-green-tea version you’ve got up your sleeves. Hmmm…..
